Honors Experiential Learning
The Honors program provides a supportive community that celebrates students’ curiosity, love of learning, and commitment to their communities. Honors is more than a distinction—it’s a way of living: integrating knowledge, fostering community, and preparing for a life of purpose and professional excellence. We believe that education is both a freedom and a responsibility: to seek wisdom and truth courageously and to serve the human community with love. Our program is a hub for interdisciplinary exploration, creative problem-solving, and meaningful community engagement. Through discussion and project-oriented coursework, students engage deeply and broadly in the search for truth and wisdom in service to the human community. Learning activities both in and outside the classroom help students develop the skills and character to make a difference, both on campus and beyond. Co-curricular and social events offer further opportunities to develop life-long friendships, professional networking, and community connections.
Honors Experiential Learning
Honors Experiential Learning empowers student scholars through interdisciplinary research or study abroad. Guided by faculty mentors, students explore complex questions and engage in self-reflection. Students are offered a choice of experiential learning opportunities: study abroad or an original research project. Both options foster diverse perspectives and cultural competencies. Students enhance research skills and communication abilities, distinguishing themselves in graduate school, the workplace, and the community. Honor Experiential Learning prepares students for academic and professional success, enabling meaningful societal contributions. Students who complete the Honors Foundation are automatically admitted. Students who have junior standing and transfer students can seek admission through an interview with the honors director(s).
