Music Education With Instrumental Concentration (BME)
Bachelor of Music Education
The Bachelor of Music Education prepares students to teach band, orchestra, chorus, and general music in grades K-12. Music Education majors receive both classroom instruction and unique hands-on learning opportunities to prepare them for the world of music teaching including conducting university ensembles in concerts, giving private lessons, and practicum experiences in K-12 classrooms. Graduates of this program are prepared to receive teaching licensure with endorsements in K-8 and 5-12 Music.
Admission to and continued enrollment in the Educator Preparation Program (EPP) require students to meet established academic and professional standards, including minimum GPA and professional disposition requirements. Students are responsible for maintaining these standards throughout their program of study. Because Educator Preparation Program policies are periodically reviewed and updated to reflect institutional, state, and accreditation requirements, students are encouraged to contact the School of Education for the most current EPP Handbook, which contains all admission, progression, retention, and completion policies.
