Philosophy (BA)
The program is designed around ten courses, two of which form a part of the Core Curriculum. After completing introductory courses in ethical decision-making and problem-solving, students apply this knowledge to two 3-course certificate clusters, one exploring emerging issues in science and technology, and the other exploring the application of philosophical ideas to community relations and social change. The major is capped with an integrative, “Philosophy in Practice” course, that allows students to focus on a project of personal relevance. All courses have a strong applied, problem-solving focus based on the principles of analyzing carefully, understanding deeply, and thinking creatively.
